Radiotherapy alone with concurrent chemoradiotherapy plus temozolamide in locally advanced soft tissue sarcoma at Mayo Hospital Lahore: A randomized controlled trial.

Sixty-four patients with soft tissue sarcomas (STS) were randomized to receive radiation therapy only or radiation therapy plus oral temozolomide. The primary outcome of interest was treatment response as measured by the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours (RECIST) criteria. Secondary outcomes of interest included the incidence of adverse events. Results revealed a significantly higher incidence of rash in the combination group compared to the radiation only group. Whilst no significant differences were observed in all remaining outcomes, the number of patients with a positive treatment response was higher in the combination group, and the number of patients with cancer progression was lower in the combination group, compared to the radiation only group.
