SLARD 2026: Medial Patellofemoral Ligament Reconstruction with Distal Femoral Varus Osteotomy .
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
Epub Ahead of Print
3 studies including 58 knees from 56 patients with recurrent patellar dislocation and genu valgum were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing preoperative vs postoperative outcomes after combined medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction and distal femoral varus osteotomy. Pooled outcomes of interest included coronal alignment parameters, Tibial Tubercle-Trochlear Groove (TT-TG) distance, pain, functional scores (Kujala, Lysholm, and Tegner), recurrent instability, and complications. Significant improvements were observed in mechanical axis alignment, radiographic measurements, pain scores, and functional outcomes, with no reported redislocations or subluxations. Overall, the findings suggest that the combined procedure is an effective treatment option for selected patients with recurrent patellar instability associated with genu valgum.
