2026 SLARD Annual Meeting: Graft Maturation in Postoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Isolated vs Anterolateral-Augmented Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstructions

OE Journal. 2026;14(11):155 studies involving 450 patients were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing isolated anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with ACL reconstruction augmented by an anterolateral procedure, including lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET) or anterolateral ligament reconstruction (ALLR). The primary pooled outcome was graft maturation measured using the MRI signal-to-noise quotient (SNQ). The analysis found no significant difference in graft maturation between augmented and isolated ACL reconstruction. Overall, the findings suggest that although anterolateral augmentation may improve knee stability in some patients, it does not appear to enhance graft ligamentization as measured by MRI.
