No difference in pain control and hospitalisation length between single-shot adductor canal block and periarticular injections following total knee arthroplasty: a meta-analysis.

Three randomized controlled trials including 283 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing single-shot adductor canal block with periarticular injections. Pooled outcomes included Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) pain scores on postoperative days 0, 1, and 2 and length of hospitalisation. No significant differences were observed between the two analgesic strategies for pain at any assessed postoperative timepoint or for hospital stay. Overall, both approaches appear similarly effective, allowing clinicians to select the technique according to local expertise, resources, and perioperative workflow.
