A Comparison of Anesthetic Quality between Single and Septum-based Double Injection for Ultrasound-Guided Costoclavicular Block: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Pain Physician. 2022 Nov;25(8):E1183-E1189.Sixty-eight patients undergoing upper extremity surgery were randomized to receive a septum-based double injection or a single-injection ultrasound-guided costoclavicular block. The primary outcome of interest was block rate success. Secondary outcomes of interest included the rate of blockade for all 4 nerves and the time to block onset. The results demonstrated a superior block success rate, rate of 4 nerve blockade, and a shorter onset time with double-injection vs. single injection.
