A comparison of water-based and land-based core stability exercises in patients with lumbar disc herniation: a pilot study

OE Journal. 2017;5(16):15 Disabil Rehabil. 2016 Jun;38(12):1163-71.31 patients with lumbar disc herniation (LDH) were randomized to receive either land-based or water-based core exercise therapy lasting eight weeks. The purpose of this pilot study was to compare the therapies in terms of improvement in pain, trunk muscle strength, function, disability and health-related quality of life at the end of treatment. Results demonstrated that study groups had comparable scores for all outcomes of interest when assessed after 8 weeks.
