A Comparison of Radiofrequency-Based Microtenotomy and Arthroscopic Release of the Extensor Carpi Radialis Brevis Tendon in Recalcitrant Lateral Epicondylitis: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Study

OE Journal. 2018;6(11):12 Arthroscopy. 2018 May;34(5):1439-144655 patients with recalcitrant lateral epicondylitis were randomized to either radiofrequency microtenotomy of the extensor carpi radialis brevis (ECRB) or arthroscopic release of the ECRB tendon. Patients were followed up for results on the Mayo Elbow Performance Score (MEPS), the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH) questionnaire, pain score, the range of elbow motion in flexion-extension, and grip strength at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups for any measure at any time point. One case of revision was recorded in each group.
