Similar result between intramedullary nail and volar plating for distal radius fractures .
Intramedullary repair device against volar plating in the reconstruction of extra-articular and simple articular distal radius fractures; a randomized pilot study
Int Orthop. 2014 Aug;38(8):1655-60. doi: 10.1007/s00264-014-2382-2. Epub 2014 Jun 1064 patients suffering from distal radius fractures were randomized to undergo surgical treatment with intramedullary fixation or standard volar locking plate fixation in this randomized pilot study. The aim of this study was to compare radiographic and functional outcomes between surgical treatment groups. The time to fracture healing, overall complications, and radiographic outcomes did not differ significantly between groups, while mean operating time was shorter with intramedullary fixation.
