Comparison of injection modalities in the treatment of plantar heel pain: A randomized controlled trial

45 patients suffering from plantar heel pain randomly received corticosteroid injections, autologous blood injections, or treatment using the peppering technique. Pain and functional outcomes (assessed using VAS and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society's rear foot score) were assessed at a 6 month follow-up. Results indicated a significant improvement in VAS and rear foot scores for all groups from baseline measures, however there were no difference observed in the degree of improvement between the 3 groups.
