A Randomized Clinical Trial to Assess the Clinical Effectiveness of a Measured Objective Tensioning Device in Hamstring Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

127 patients scheduled for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with a hamstring autograft were randomized to intraoperative tensioning of the graft using either a commercial device or a freehand method by the surgeon. The purpose of this study was to compare anterior knee laxity and patient-reported outcome measures between groups. The results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in either KT-1000 side-to-side differences, or the patient-reported measures of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament Quality of Life Questionnaire (ACL-QoL) and the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) subjective knee evaluation over an 18-month follow-up.
