No Difference in Outcome Between Femoral Soft-Tissue and Screw Graft Fixation for Reconstruction of the Medial Patellofemoral Ligament: A Randomized Controlled Trial
Arthroscopy. 2019 Apr;35(4):1130-1137.60 patients with recurrent patellar instability were randomized to receive a medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction with either interference screw fixation or soft tissue fixation around the adductor tendon insertion. Outcomes of interest included the Kujala knee score, pain at rest and during activity, Knee Injury Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) sub-scales, Tegner activity level, tenderness of palpation at the medial femoral condyle, and re-dislocation rate. Follow up was performed at 1 and 2 years. The results from the study found no significant differences in all outcomes between the two groups.
