Similar clinical outcome and survivorship over 10 years between robotic versus hand rasping in THA .
Does Robotic Milling For Stem Implantation in Cementless THA Result in Improved Outcomes Scores or Survivorship Compared with Hand Rasping? Results of a Randomized Trial at 10 Years
Clin Orthop Relat Res. 2018 Nov;476(11):2169-2173. doi: 10.1097130 patients scheduled for cementless total hip arthroplasty were randomized to femoral preparation with either robotic milling assistance or manual hand rasping. Patients were assessed for clinical score and radiographic outcomes over a minimum of 10 years postoperatively. Results demonstrated no significant difference between groups in Japanese Orthopaedic Association sore or incidence of development of heterotopic ossification. No patient in either group required revision or demonstrated evidence of aseptic loosening.
