Therapist-supervised hand therapy versus home therapy with therapist instruction following distal radius fracture
J Hand Surg Am. 2015 Jun;40(6):1110-1116.e150 patients presenting with distal radius fractures and whom underwent open reduction and internal fixation with a volar locking plate were included in this randomized controlled trial. The purpose of the study was to determine if there was a difference in Patient-Rated Wrist Hand Evaluation (PRWHE) scores between patients after receiving supervised clinical therapy or a monitored home exercise program. Results displayed no significant difference in final evaluations of the PRWHE, wrist and forearm motion, pain or grip strength between groups.
