Am J Sports Med. 2015 Jan;43(1):146-5331 patients scheduled for matrix-induced autologous chrondrocyte implantation (MACI) were randomized to either accelerated rehabilitation, with full-weightbearing allowed by 6 weeks, or delayed rehabilitation, with full-weightbearing not allowed until 10 weeks. The purpose of this study was to compare radiographic and clinical outcome between groups over 5-year follow-up. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in magnetic resonance observation of cartilage repair tissue (MOCART) scores, Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), or Tegner score at 5 years.
