60 patients scheduled for total shoulder arthroplasty were randomized to either immediate or delayed mobilization postoperatively. Patients were assessed for shoulder range of motion, clinical scores, and radiographic healing of the lesser tuberosity osteotomy over 12 month follow-up. At early time points (4-8 weeks), some clinical scores demonstrated better outcome in the immediate mobilization group compared to the delayed mobilization group. By 1 year, no significant differences in any outcome were observed between groups.
