2026 SICOT Annual Meeting: Accuracy of patient-specific versus standard instrumentation for glenoid version in shoulder arthroplasty: A meta-analysis of randomized trials
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
Epub Ahead of Print
4 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 220 patients undergoing shoulder arthroplasty were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) with standard instrumentation for glenoid component placement. The primary outcome was angular error in glenoid version between preoperative 3-dimensional (3D) planning and postoperative computed tomography (CT). PSI significantly reduced angular error compared with standard instrumentation (MD –1.49°, 95% CI –2.60 to –0.39; p=0.008), with low heterogeneity (I²=12%). These findings suggest that PSI improves the precision of glenoid component placement, although its clinical significance remains uncertain.
