2025 SICOT Annual Meeting: Mechanical And Kinematic Alignment In Robotic Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Randomized Comparative Study

Fifty patients undergoing robotic total knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive restricted kinematic alignment (rKA, n=25) or mechanical alignment (MA, n=25). The primary outcomes of interest were range of motion and functional scores (KSS, OKS) at 3 and 6 months. Secondary outcomes included quality of life measures (SF-36 and FJS-12) at one year. Outcomes were assessed at 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months. Overall, the results revealed that rKA patients had greater range of motion and higher KSS and OKS scores at 3 months, and better SF-36 and FJS-12 scores at one year (all p<0.05). These findings suggest that rKA may provide modest but meaningful improvements in function and quality of life compared with MA in robotic TKA.
