Comparative short-term effects of oscillatory mobilization and mulligan MWM on pain, disability, and range of motion among De Quervain's tenosynovitis patients- a randomized clinical trial.

28 patients with De Quervain’s tenosynovitis (DQT) were randomized to receive Mulligan mobilization with movement (MWM) or oscillatory mobilization (OM), both combined with therapeutic ultrasound. The outcomes of interest were pain, assessed using the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS); disability, assessed using the Patient-Rated Wrist Evaluation (PRWE); and thumb range of motion (ROM), measured using a goniometer. Patients received 3 treatment sessions per week for 2 weeks, with outcomes assessed at baseline and immediately after treatment. Overall, the results of the study revealed that both interventions improved pain, disability, and several ROM measures, while MWM produced greater improvements in disability and thumb mobility. These findings suggested that incorporating active movement into manual mobilization could provide additional short-term functional benefits for patients with DQT.
