Short-term effects of exergaming on patients with chronic low back pain: A single-blind randomized controlled trial.
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2025;13(9):7 Musculoskelet Sci Pract . 2025 Feb:75:103248.研究概要
Seventy patients with chronic low back pain were randomized to receive either exergaming (n=35) or traditional exercise (n=35). The primary outcome of interest was the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Secondary outcomes included physical performance measures (chair-rising, stair ascent/descent), lumbar range of motion, balance, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), and Fear-Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ). Outcomes were assessed up to 3 months post-treatment. Overall, the results of the study revealed that exergaming produced statistically greater improvements in disability (ODI), physical performance, and FABQ scores compared to traditional exercise. However, these improvements did not reach minimal clinically important difference (MCID) thresholds. The findings suggest that short-term exergaming is not inferior to traditional exercise and may be a viable supplemental therapy.
