Pain in donor site after BTB-ACL reconstruction with PRGF: a randomized trial

43 patients scheduled for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with a bone-patellar-tendon-bone autograft were randomized to undergo the procedure with or without administration of plasma rich in growth factors (PRGF) to the harvest sites. The purpose of this study was to evaluate if PRGF augmentation led to significantly reduced donor-site pain when compared to non-augmented procedures. Results demonstrated significantly lower pain scores in the PRGF group compared to the control group at 1 and 2 months postoperatively, but no significant differences between groups from 4 to 24 months postoperatively.
