Quality of life and clinical outcome after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using patellar tendon graft or quadrupled semitendinosus graft: an 8-year follow-up of a randomized controlled trial
Am J Sports Med. 2010 Aug;38(8):1533-41. Epub 2010 Jun 21.164 patients with anterior cruciate ligament injury were randomized to arthroscopic reconstruction with either a quadrupled semitendinosus graft or a bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) graft. On an average 8 years follow up, the semitendinosus (ST) graft used in ACL repair had similar outcomes to bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) graft. The BPTB graft was found to be associated with greater kneeling difficulties due to the donor site morbidity.
