Rotatory laxity improved in double-bundle ACL reconstruction compared to single-bundle .

Comparison of anterior and rotatory laxity using navigation between single- and double-bundle ACL reconstruction: prospective randomized trial

Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2012 Apr;20(4):752-61. doi: 10.1007/s00167-012-1880-2. Epub 2012 Jan 25

Patients with a total of 42 knees who required anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction were randomized to receive single-bundle (SB) or double-bundle (DB) ACL reconstruction to determine the effect of the DB technique on anterior tibial translation and rotational laxity and stability of the knee following surgery. Knee kinematics and functional outcomes were assessed 2 years postoperatively. The results indicated that the DB technique improved rotational laxity at 30 and 60 degrees flexion of the knee and IKDC subjective satisfaction score, but superiority in the other areas of knee kinematics, as well as functional outcomes, were not observed.
