High Impact
This study has been identified as potentially high impact. OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself. Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone. This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.

Platelet-rich plasma in rotator cuff repair: a prospective randomized study

Am J Sports Med. 2014 Oct;42(10):2446-54.

75 patients with complete supraspinatus tears were randomized to undergo arthroscopic rotator cuff repair with or without the injection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The purpose of this study was to compare functional and structural results between groups up to 24 months post-surgery. The UCLA score was significantly higher in the PRP group than in the control group at the 12 month follow-up, but this difference was not present at any other time point. Constant scores and VAS pain scores improved similarly in both groups throughout the follow-up period, and no significant differences in retear rates or complications were observed between groups.
