Enhanced rehabilitation for unstable pelvic tile C fractures: integrating mechanotherapy and early intervention.

Seventy-four patients with unstable pelvic Tile C fractures were randomized to receive either Hocoma Lokomat-assisted mechanotherapy plus conventional rehabilitation (n=34) or conventional rehabilitation alone (n=40). The primary outcome was functional recovery, assessed using the Majeed Pelvic Score (MPS). Secondary outcomes included pain levels (VAS), isometric muscle strength (L FORCE), and safety/tolerance of intervention. Outcomes were assessed at baseline, 3, 6, and 12 months post-surgery. Overall, the results of the study revealed that the mechanotherapy group had significantly greater functional gains (MPS), improved muscle strength, and reduced pain at 6 months compared to controls. These findings suggest that incorporating robotic-assisted gait training into standard rehabilitation protocols may enhance recovery in patients with complex pelvic trauma.
