Robot-Assisted Gait Training Device + Physiotherapy in Patients with Subacute Stroke and Hemiplegia .
Effects of the Robot-Assisted Gait Training Device Plus Physiotherapy in Improving Ambulatory Functions in Patients With Subacute Stroke With Hemiplegia: An Assessor-Blinded, Randomized Controlled Trial
Arch Phys Med Rehabil. 2022 01-May;():. 10.1016/j.apmr.2022.01.146Twenty-six subacute stroke patients with hemiplegia were randomized to receive 30 sessions of physiotherapy over 6 weeks with the addition of robotic training plus ground-based ambulation training (n=13) or ground-based ambulation training only (n=13). The primary outcomes of interest included the Functional Independence Measure (FIM) walk score, and the walking efficacy score calculated using the number of sessions required to reach an FIM walking score of 5. Secondary outcomes of interest included clinical evaluation and gait spatiotemporal measures. Results revealed significantly greater FIM walking scores at 3 weeks and greater walking efficacy in the robotic group. Gait symmetry ratio at 6 weeks was also significantly better in the robotic group. No other differences were observed.
