40 patients with bone loss to the proximal tibia were randomized to receive conventional revision total knee arthroplasty (rTKA) or rTKA with the “Trabecular Metal Cone” (TM Cone). Although both groups improved significantly in function scores after 24 months, no significant difference was found between them. The two groups also did not differ significantly in their changes in bone mineral density at 12 and 24 months. This study indicates that there was a similar bone remodelling pattern seen between the two procedures.
