The fragility of statistically significant findings from randomized trials in spine surgery: a systematic survey
Spine J. 2015 Oct 1;15(10):2188-97Results from 40 randomized controlled trials investigating interventions in spine surgery were included in this study. This review aimed to apply the recently described Fragility Index to statistically significant dichotomous outcomes in order to examine the robustness of these results. The median Fragility Index was 2 (IQR 1-3), indicating that the changing of a non-event into an event in only a few patients would cause statistical significance to be lost in a number of cases.
