Resistance Versus Proprioception Training for Chronic Ankle Instability: A Meta-Analysis .
Efficacy of resistance training with elastic bands compared to proprioceptive training on balance and self-report measures in patients with chronic ankle instability: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Phys Ther Sport . 2023 Nov:64:74-84.Five randomized controlled trials (259 patients) comparing resistance training with elastic bands against proprioception training were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis. Outcomes of interest included the Star Excursion Balance Test (SEBT) in anterior, posteromedial, and posterolateral, Foot & Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) sport and activities of daily living, and the Cumberland Ankle Instability Tool (CAIT). All outcomes were similar between the two groups except for CAIT scores which favored the proprioception training group.
