Effectiveness of an extension-oriented treatment approach in a subgroup of subjects with low back pain: a randomized clinical trial

A subgroup of 48 patients with low back pain (LBP) and a centralization phenomenon with extension were randomized to receive one of two treatments. The first group underwent an extension-oriented treatment approach (EOTA) while the second group underwent a lumbar spine strengthening program. The primary outcomes were disability and pain. Results indicated that the EOTA treatment provided greater improvements in disability in the subgroup of patients who had a centralization phenomenon.
