Radiofrequency of suprascapular nerve as an analgesic strategy for chronic pain management. Systematic review and meta-analysis.

Eight clinical trials including 408 patients with chronic shoulder pain were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing suprascapular nerve radiofrequency (RFS) to other analgesic strategies, including placebo, intra-articular corticosteroids, physical therapy, and nerve blocks. The primary outcomes analyzed were pain intensity on a visual analogue scale (VAS), functionality assessed by the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI), and adverse events. The pooled results suggested that RFS reduced pain intensity at 1 month and 3 months. Functional improvements were also observed at 1 month and 3 months. No adverse events related to RFS were reported. Despite these findings, the certainty of the evidence was low due to high heterogeneity and risk of bias.
