Open reduction and internal-fixation versus radial head replacement in treatment of Mason type III radial head fractures

Two studies (one randomized controlled trial and one comparative cohort study) were included in this meta-analysis comparing radial head arthroplasty and open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) in the treatment of Mason type III fractures of the radial head. Results indicated a lower incidence of complications and improved functional outcome among the arthroplasty cohorts compared to the ORIF groups. Despite these findings, the small amount of available evidence does not provide a strong enough framework to recommend either treatment over the other, given the small sample sizes included.
