A qualitative report on the subjective experience of intravenous psilocybin administered in an FMRI environment

Fifteen healthy psychedelic experienced participants were administered an intravenous dose of either placebo or 2 mg of psilocybin on two different testing days in an fMRI scanner to determine the subjective experience. Patients participated in an interview and also answered a battery of visual analog scale items on subjective psychological effects of the drugs. Patients reported perceptual changes, cognitive changes, changes in mood, effects on memory, spiritual experiences, changes to their environment, comparisons with other experience, intensity and onset of effects, an interpretation of the experience.
