OE Journal. 2021;9(22):23 Cartilage. 2016 Jul;7(3):229-37.What this means for my practice?
Patients with K-L grade 2 knee OA had greater positive response to IA-HA treatment, when compared with K-L grade 3 patients.
Study Summary
Patients’ data from the FLEXX trial and its subsequent extension trial were analyzed to identify factors associated with effects of intra-articular injection of hyaluronic acid (IA-HA) among patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Poorer baseline characteristics of patients, including higher pain score, higher WOMAC subscales, and Kellgren Lawrence (K-L) grade 3 were associated with worse outcomes.
