Intraoperative Psoas Compartment Block vs Preoperative Fascia Iliaca Block for Pain Control After Direct Anterior Total Hip Arthroplasty: A Randomized Controlled Trial

OE Journal. 2018;6(14):3 J Arthroplasty. 2018 Jun;33(6):1770-177450 patients scheduled for total hip arthroplasty were randomized to a multimodal analgesia regimen including either a preoperative fascia iliaca compartment block or an intraoperative psoas compartment block. Patients were assessed for pain scores and narcotic consumption over the first 3 days postoperatively, as well as patient satisfaction at 3 weeks postoperatively. Results demonstrated no significant differences between groups for any outcome measure.
