Post-Achilles tendon repair elongation unaffected by weightbearing protocol used after surgery .
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.

OE Journal. 2018;6(19):19 Am J Sports Med. 2018 Aug;46(10):2492-2502. doi: 10.1177/036354651878182675 patients following acute Achilles tendon rupture repair were randomized to one of three postoperative weightbearing protocols: restricted weightbearing to 7 weeks and no ankle mobilization exercises (LWB+IMMOB), restricted weightbearing to 7 weeks with ankle mobilization exercises (LWB+MOB), or complete weightbearing by 5 weeks with ankle mobilization exercises (EWB+MOB). Primary outcome was tendon elongation over 52-week follow-up. Over follow-up, no significant differences between either the LWB+IMMOB group, LWB+MOB group, and EWB+MOB group were observed in tendon elongation.
