No difference in clinical outcomes between portable navigation and conventional instrumentation in total knee arthroplasty: A randomised trial.

One hundred and eighty-four patients with degenerative knee osteoarthritis were randomized to undergo a unilateral total knee arthroplasty procedure using a portable accelerometer-based navigation device (n=95) or conventional instrumentation (n=89). The primary outcome of interest was the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS). Secondary outcomes of interest included the KOOS subscales and the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score and associated sub-scores. Patients were followed up for a mean of 4.3 years post-operation. Results revealed no significant difference in the change from baseline in all outcomes between the two groups.
