Ponseti casting for club foot - above- or below-knee?: A prospective randomised clinical trial
Bone Joint J. 2013 Nov 1;95-B(11):1570-426 children (33 club feet) in the first 3 months of life with idiopathic club feet were included in this study to determine the risks and benefits of below-knee casting compared to standard above-knee casting for Ponseti's method. The outcomes included time to tenotomy or time to full correction when tenotomy was not required, risk of failure due to displacement of the cast or extended length of treatment, Pirani score and complications. Overall, below-knee casting was ineffective as it resulted in more failures and delayed time to achieve full correction.
