Effects of Platelet-Rich Plasma in Tear Size Reduction in Partial-Thickness Tear of the Supraspinatus Tendon Compared to Corticosteroids Injection.
This study has been identified as potentially high impact.
OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself.
Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone.
This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.
OrthoEvidence Journal (OE Journal) - ACE Report
OE Journal. 2023;11(7):11 Sports Med Open. 2023 Feb 8;9(1): 11.Study Summary
Thirty patients with partial-thickness tears of the supraspinatus tendon were randomized to receive a platelet-rich plasma injection (n=15) or corticosteroid injection (n=15). The primary outcome of interest was tear size. The secondary outcome of interest was functional outcomes, measured with the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) score and the Constant Murley (CM) score. Outcomes were measured at 6 months post-injection. The improvement from baseline in tear size at 6 months in the coronal and sagittal views was significantly greater in the platelet-rich plasma group. Similarly, ASES and CM scores at 6 months were in favour of the platelet-rich plasma group.
