Platelet-Rich Plasma vs Autologous Blood Injection to Treat Plantar Fasciitis: A Prospective Randomized, Double-Blinded, Controlled Trial
Foot Ankle Int . 2022 Sep;43(9):1211-1218.Sixty patients with plantar fasciitis were randomized to receive an ultrasound-guided injection of platelet-rich plasma (n=30) or autologous blood product. The outcomes of interest included pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS) and the Foot and Ankle Disability Index (FADI), measured at 1, 3 and 6 months. Results revealed no significant differences between the two groups in all outcomes, at all time-points.
