High Impact
This study has been identified as potentially high impact. OE's AI-driven High Impact metric estimates the influence a paper is likely to have by integrating signals from both the journal in which it is published and the scientific content of the article itself. Developed using state-of-the-art natural language processing, the OE High Impact model more accurately predicts a study's future citation performance than journal impact factor alone. This enables earlier recognition of clinically meaningful research and helps readers focus on articles most likely to shape future practice.

Comparative Effectiveness of Platelet-Rich Plasma Injections for Treating Knee Joint Cartilage Degenerative Pathology: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Arch Phys Med Rehabil. 2013 Nov 27. pii: S0003-9993(13)01212-4. doi: 10.1016/j.apmr.2013.11.006.

This 16 study meta-analysis/systematic review evaluated the ability of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to improve functional outcomes of patients suffering from knee cartilage degeneration. The aim of the study was to determine the best course of care and treatment for patients with chondral degenerative knee lesions by comparing functional outcomes before and after the use of PRP injections, HA injections, and placebo controls. Results revealed that the injection of PRP improved function and was more effective compared to HA administration. Additionally, patients with minimal cartilage degeneration enjoyed greater benefits from PRP injections than patients suffering from advanced osteoarthritis.
