Comparison of External and Percutaneous Pin Fixation with Plate Fixation for Intra-articular Distal Radial Fractures

OE Journal. 2013;1(3):104 J Bone Joint Surg Am. 2008 Jan;90(1):16-22137 patients with 144 acute intra-articular distal radial fractures were randomized to undergo either external fixation combined with percutaneous pin fixation or open reduction and plate fixation. Following a period of 24 months, scores based on the Gartland and Werley point system indicated that patients managed with plate fixation demonstrated significantly better results than those who underwent external fixation with percutaneous pin fixation.
