Physiotherapy screening of patients referred for orthopaedic consultation in primary healthcare - A randomised controlled trial
Man Ther. 2014 Oct;19(5):386-91.203 patients referred for orthopaedic surgeon consultation due to musculoskeletal pain were randomized to receive physiotherapy screening or standard referral to an orthopaedic surgeon. The purpose of this trial was to determine if experienced physiotherapists could efficiently screen patients referred for orthopaedic consultation in primary healthcare. The physiotherapy screening group achieved a higher level of selection accuracy and shorter wait times compared to standard practice.
