The effectiveness of physiotherapy functional restoration for post-acute low back pain: a systematic review
Man Ther. 2013 Feb;18(1):4-25. doi: 10.1016/j.math.2012.06.005. Epub 2012 Jul 1516 trials satisfied the inclusion criteria to study the effects of physiotherapy functional restoration (PFR), consisting of exercise and cognitive-behavioural interventions, compared to other treatments or placebo in patients with post-acute low back pain. Outcomes of interest included pain, function, and sick leave. There was moderate to high quality evidence for small but statistically significant effects favouring PFR to advice for pain and function. Low to moderate evidence suggested no difference between PFR and other single treatments.
