Fifty-two patients with chronic low back pain were randomized to receive electrotherapy alone (n=26) or kinesiotaping plus electrotherapy (n=26). The outcomes of interest included pain, flexibility, functionality, low back awareness, fear avoidance, anxiety, and depression, as well as objective and subjective functional performance assessed with the Timed Up and Go (TUG) Test, Five Times Sit-to-Stand (FTSST) Test, Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), and Modified Schober Test. Outcomes were assessed at baseline, after 2 weeks of treatment, and at an 8-week follow-up. Overall, the results of the study revealed that kinesiotaping combined with electrotherapy produced greater improvements in pain, functional performance, low back awareness, and fear avoidance compared with electrotherapy alone. However, no additional benefit was observed for anxiety, depression, or lumbar flexibility. These findings suggest that kinesiotaping may be a useful additional intervention for improving both physical and psychological outcomes in patients with chronic low back pain.
