Photobiomodulation in carpal tunnel syndrome with pain, strength, and functionality analysis: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Thirteen studies including 735 patients with carpal tunnel syndrome were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis comparing low-level laser therapy (LLLT) vs. placebo, wrist splints, or exercises. Pooled outcomes of interest included pain intensity, handgrip strength, pinch strength, and hand functionality. Meta-analysis revealed no significant differences in pain or handgrip strength between LLLT and controls, but a significant improvement in functionality. These findings suggest that while LLLT may not clearly reduce pain or improve strength, it does enhance functional outcomes in patients with CTS.
