Percutaneous neuromodulation pain therapy following knee replacement

OE Journal. 2013;1(19):14 J Knee Surg. 2011 Sep;24(3):197-20223 patients were randomized to evaluate the effectiveness of the Deepwave device, which utilizes percutaneous neuromodulation technology, in reducing pain and opioid use following total knee replacement (TKR). Patients received either the Deepwave treatment or sham treatment (set at 0% intensity) twice daily. The assessment revealed that the Deepwave device was effective in reducing the subjective measures of pain with a trend (but not significant) toward decreased use opioid use when compared to sham treatments.
