PCL-retaining and sacrificing prostheses don't affect varus-valgus laxity after TKA .

Changes in varus-valgus laxity after total knee arthroplasty over time

Knee Surg Sports Traumatol Arthrosc. 2012 Oct;20(10):1988-93. Epub 2011 Nov 25.

60 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive a posterior cruciate ligament-retaining prosthesis or a posterior cruciate ligament-sacrificing prosthesis to examine differences in coronal laxity. The results of the study suggest that coronal laxity does not change over time and that the posterior cruciate ligament does not affect coronal stability during varus-valgus stress, as there were no significant differences in varus and valgus laxities between the two prostheses.
