Single-Bundle Versus Double-Bundle Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction-5-Year Results
Arthroscopy. 2018 Sep;34(9):2647-2653. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2018.03.03464 patients scheduled for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction were randomized to either double-bundle or single-bundle reconstruction using a hamstrings autograft. Patients were followed for 5 years post-operation for results on knee stability and function, including the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) subjective and objective scores, rotational knee laxity on the Laximeter, anteroposterior knee translation on the KT1000 arthrometer, and subjective knee laxity measures (Lachman and pivot shift). Results for all measures after 5 years demonstrated no significant differences between groups. No cases of graft re-rupture were recorded, and a total of 3 cases of revision were necessary due to cyclops lesion.
