No difference in knee function or prevalence of osteoarthritis after reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament with 4-strand hamstring autograft versus patellar tendon-bone autograft: a randomized study with 10-year follow-up
Am J Sports Med. 2010 Mar;38(3):448-54. Epub 2010 Jan 23.72 patients with subacute or chronic rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), scheduled for ACL reconstruction procedure, were randomized to the usage of a hamstring (HAM) or a patellar tendon bone (PTB) autograft for reconstruction. Ten years postoperatively, no statistically significant differences were found between treatment with HAM autograft or PTB autograft in ACL repair in all functional outcomes and prevalence of osteoarthritis.
