Patellar eversion does not adversely affect quadriceps recovery following total knee arthroplasty

OE Journal. 2013;1(8):1 J Arthroplasty. 2013 Apr;28(4):591-4. doi: 10.1016/j.arth.2012.06.031. Epub 2012 Nov 1272 female knees undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to receive the midvastus approach with or without patellar eversion, to determine whether exclusion of patellar eversion accelerated the recovery process of the quadriceps. Following 1 year of evaluations, results indicated that no significant differences existed for quadriceps force and power, or any other outcome scores between patients who underwent TKA with or without patellar eversion.
